The state government today announced one more important scheme.  Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced an aid scheme to encourage the use of battery-powered two-wheelers and three-wheelers to curb air pollution from vehicles in the state’s towns.  Under this assistance scheme, the government will provide assistance of Rs 12,000 to students studying from Std-9 to college in the state to purchase a battery-powered two-wheeler.  The target is to provide subsidy to 10 thousand vehicles.  Not only this, the state government will also provide assistance of Rs. 48,000 for the purchase of battery operated e-rickshaw three wheeler for individual and institutional beneficiaries and five thousand e-rickshaws will be given the benefit.
A Rs 50 lakh scheme has been launched to set up vehicle charging facilities. The Chief Minister gave this eco-friendly gift to the citizens of the state as a panchasheel gift of five development schemes in the state to celebrate the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  At the same time, a scheme of Rs 50 lakh has been implemented to set up infrastructure facilities for charging battery-powered vehicles.  Today, 11 years ago, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he set up the Climate Change Department.  A series of events were held to celebrate the founding day of the department.
Addressing the function held through Gujarat Leading Video-Conferencing in Solar System in the country, the Chief Minister said that Gujarat is moving ahead with Green Energy Clean Energy.  Today, when the effects of climate change have become a challenge to the entire world, years ago, the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi created the first timely climate change department in the country keeping in view the challenges that would arise in the future.  Gujarat is a leader in solar system in the country.  Gujarat is the state which gets maximum sunlight for twelve months.  Our goal is to generate electricity from sunlight and provide cheap electricity to the citizens, as well as generate electricity on the rooftops of their homes and earn extra income by selling extra electricity.  That is why the solar rooftop project has become the hallmark of Gujarat.
He further said that Gujarat is also a leader in renewable energy.  The total installed capacity of electricity in the state is 35,500 MW.  The contribution of renewable energy to the total installed capacity of Gujarat is 30 per cent, which is more than the national average of 23 per cent.  Effective implementation of unconventional energy stops approximately 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere during the year and saves 10 million tons of coal for power generation.  The purity of the atmosphere is also maintained.
