On 5th September we celebrate the birthday of our former President Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan as Teacher’s Day. Dr. Radhakrishna was a great philosopher and teacher. He once said that I am first a teacher and then the President.Radhakrishnan was born in TiruTani, Tamil Nadu on 9 September 19. Radhakrishnan has been gifted in teaching since childhood. 1926 He obtained a master’s degree in philosophy from Madras College.His dissertation was published at the age of twenty. He did not like the subject of philosophy but a distant brother who was studying in his school and college gave him books of philosophy to spend his time reading. He started his career as a Professor of Philosophy. In addition to his college job, he also wrote some contemporary works. His first book on philosophy was The Philosophy of Ravindranath Tagore.

He served as India’s Representative to UNESCO at the time of India’s independence in 1947. He was also India’s Ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1949 to 1952. He was elected President of India in 1975 when his friends and students celebrated his birthday when he became President. Enthusiasm was shown though Radhakrishnan suggested celebrating his birthday as Teacher’s Day. Since then his birthday has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India Has started.

Dr. Radhakrishna is known in the country and the world as a philosopher president. Philosopher Plato wrote years ago that an ideal state is a king who is a philosopher. Dr. Radhakrishna became the president. According to tradition, his name is the name of the almighty village. His ancestors lived in this village years ago.

His progress was very straightforward. After reaching the Vice-Chancellor of the country, he was a Visiting Professor at Oxford University for six years, where he also converted to Hinduism.
